Hi Friend of The River Fund Maine,

Exciting summer happenings at The River Fund Maine, all possible thanks to generous support from donors like you! TRFM welcomed Maine West Project Play Program Director, Justin Fereshetian this summer where he has been busy forging community partnerships, and prototyping curriculum with our community's young people. Working with community partners including Mahoosuc Kids Association, Bethel Area Rec. Department, SAD 44 & Gould Academy, Maine West Project Play aims to give kids the opportunity to build relationships with high quality coaches and mentors, and provide programming grounded in the notion of physical literacy, but that gives equal weight to social and emotional development.

Developing coaching staff, Justin and The River Fund Maine have hired three Junior Coaches to help implement programming this Summer and into the Fall. Two of the Junior Coaches will be focusing on the programming implemented at MKA, and one coach specific to track & field this summer with Bethel Area Rec. All three of our junior coaches are Telstar High School students and participate in NorthStara youth mentoring program of the University of Maine Bryant Pond 4-H Center.

The River Fund Maine Scholars - Summer 2022 Update

Luci Rothwell 20'

I am enrolled in the first class of a three-course series that will further my progress towards my Master’s degree in occupational therapy. This summer class is called Research & Evidence-based Practice l, which requires us to use evidence-based research for mastering our critical thinking and clinical reasoning. The completion of this course will give me necessary skills that will be used in my clinical fieldwork during the fall semester, which will be done within the Hampden Academy School District!

Dylan Greenberg 21'

I'm working full time this summer as a software developer at Uprise Partners, a cybersecurity and managed services provider based in Bethel. I find it incredibly interesting and really enjoy it.  Work takes a lot of my time, but I do a fair amount of electrical repair and repurposing of old electronics and computer parts. Another one of my hobbies is Nerf modding and I do that a lot in the evenings when I get out of work.

Bailey Fraser 22'

I am busy working at The Good Food Store in Bethel as a retail clerk and caterer for our many weddings. In my free time, I am finding new places to spend outside and enjoying summer with my favorite people!

Monarch Festival

Mark your calendars, Sunday August 14th (the day after the Par 3 Party) The Monarch Festival returns to Valentine Farm, Sponsored by The River Fund Maine.

Arriving Home

Museums of the Bethel Historical Society - Exhibits “Arriving Home” are opening, and sponsored by The River Fund Maine. Please go explore this wonderful exhibit, and learn more about the many people that have called this region home.

Establishing a four season recreation initiative that improves the quality and accessibility of programming for all has been a goal of The River Fund Maine for several years now. To see our community rally support, and for national and local partners to welcome us in has been such a surreal feeling. Together, we really are a community creating a bright future for youth.

On behalf of The River Fund Maine’s Board of Directors and its committees, we sincerely thank you for your support and dedication to this amazing mountain community.

With Gratitude,

Noah Tanguay-Collins, Executive Director
